As you guys already know, Samsung SoCs are weak at GPU. But this time, Samsung Exynos 2200 can have the most powerful GPU in the smartphone industry. With the partnership with AMD, Samsung will make the World First AMD GPU feature on a smartphone.
Exynos 2200: CPU
Exynos 2200, the next successor to Exynos 2100 will feature a similar tri-cluster core structure as of SnapDragon Gen 1. There will be a high-performance Cortex-X2 (2.9GHz), three Cortex A710(2.8GHz), and battery-efficient Cortex A510(2.5GHz). As of now, the rumors say it will come with the old 5nm fabrication process instead of 4nm.
In its testing phase, it had defeated SD Gen 1 in CPU performance by 7%. However, Exynos 2200 has less clocked the Cortex-X2 at 2.9GHz instead of 3.05GHz in SD Gen 1.
Exynos 2200 with RDNA 2 Graphics
Samsung S21 Ultra with Exynos 2100 was not capable enough to compete with SnapDragon GPU while gaming. So, Samsung comes with a partnership with AMD to give out the very powerful GPU in the next flagships (S22 Series) featuring with Exynos processor.
It is going to have the same architecture as AMD RDNA 2 in GPU. This is the same architecture used in the AMD 6000series. Although, many custom chips use this architecture in the current Xbox & PlayStation.
Even though, It will be the first smartphone processor to have ray-tracing support along with variable-rate shading. AM has announced that it’s RDNA 2 graphics are 30% more powerful than the current mali G78 GPU.
Exynos 2200: GeekBench
According to a leaked image, Exynos 2200 scored 1073 single-core & 3389 in multicore on GeekBench 5. On the other hand, it is less score when compared to SD Gen 1 SoC(1240; 3840 in Geekbench). However, Samsung used an open-source driver to run the Geekbench so we can expect much. Moreover, Samsung has clocked the performance cores to 2.59GHz only, which causes a reduction in the performance.
Launch Time
As of the above tweet by Samsung, Exynos 2200 will be announced on January 11 of 2022. It will debut in the S22 series launching in the last week of February. On the other hand, the Exynos variants of the S22 series will be targeted for only European & Korean markets. The USA & Asian regions will get the Snapdragon variant of the S22 series.
