With the launch of the Iqoo 8 series in August 2021. Iqoo decided to launch its successor, Iqoo 9 Pro in this very month. According to a leaked poster from China, The device may be revealed on January 5 at the Launch Event. Let’s see does it defeat the Xiaomi 12 Pro launched a week earlier.

Iqoo 9 Pro: Design & Display
Iqoo 9 pro is the ultimate flagship from Vivo sub-brand Iqoo. It has a premium build quality glass back with an aluminum frame. Although, the device weighs 205gm and has a thickness of 9.2mm. Eventually, Screen to body ratio measures around 91%.
Furthermore, it provides a similar display as of Xiaomi 12 Pro with an improved touch sample rate. Moreover, the device specification includes a 6.78inch Curved E5 AMOLED punch-hole display with LPTO 2.0 technology. With 517 PPI, it is a QHD+ display with Dolby Vision & HDR10+ certification.
The peak brightness goes up to 1500nits and supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Even though, it offers a 1000Hz touch sample rate compared to Xiaomi 12 Pro’s 480Hz.
Iqoo 9 pro: Battery , Charging & Camera
Iqoo 9 Pro will be powered by a 4700MAh battery. Eventually, the charging is also similar to Xiaomi 12 Pro. It also has 120W wired charging with 50W wireless charging support.
In terms of camera, 9Pro is the world’s first to feature a 50MP GN5 sensor from Samsung. It is a different sensor we have seen in Xiaomi 12 pro. Moreover, GN5 uses advanced dual-pixel technology compared to Sony IMX707. However, IMX707 defeats the GN5 sensor in terms of sensor size & pixel size, and either night vision capability. Iqoo also has introduced gimbal OIS in the main sensor for super stabilized video.
The other sensor includes a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor and becomes the world’s second device to have a 150degree fish-eye wide-angle. There is a 13MP telephoto also present in the rear setup with 2.5x optical zoom. Similarly, It has a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
Iqoo 9 Pro: Processor, RAM & Storage
Although, the device has been equipped with the latest Snapdragon Gen 1 together with the enhanced version of LPDDR5 & overclocked version of UFS3.1 type storage.
Here are the specification of Snapdragon Gen 1:
- CPU: 1x Cortex X2(3.0 GHz) + 3x Cortex-A710(2.5 GHz) + 4x Cortex-A510( 1.8 GHz)

Iqoo also confirmed that the smartphone will have a three-dimensional VC soaking Plate with an area of 3,926sq.mm for heat dissipation.
Vivo 9 Pro: UI & other specification
As the device is not launched yet, there’s not much information. The device may have Android 12 based Funtouch OS (origin os in China) when launch globally. Moreover, the device sports an ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor instead of the optical one. The ultrasonic sensor can recognize fingerprints more precisely even with wet or dusty hands.
Alternatively, it will have dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, NFC, and Gorilla Glass VICTUS for protection additionally. However, there won’ any sd slot or 3.5mm jack.
More features will be revealed at the launch event.
Price, Variants & Launch
There will be three variants of the device i.e. 8GB/128GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB with a base price of 54,000 rupees. Iqoo 9 Pro will be available in two colors: white(with BMW branding) and Black.

Is it better than Xiaomi 12 Pro?
Xiaomi 12 Pro had launched on 28 December 2021 in China. It is the most premium phone available by Mi. The iqoo smartphone comes with some advanced features compared to Xiaomi 12 Pro
However, many things have been done better in Iqoo 9 Pro.

- Ultra Sonic fingerprint scanner
- 3,926sq.mm VC soaking Plate
- 150degree fisheye wideangle
- Gimbal OIS
However, Iqoo 9 Pro doesn’t include any Infrared sensor as of Xiaomi 12 Pro. Also, MI 12 Pro speakers are tuned by Harman/Kardon and the telephoto sensor is 50MP instead of 13MP in 9Pro.
If both phones are available at the same price, you should go with Iqoo 9 Pro as of now.
