Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro leaked display specs

Google has teased the upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro at its I/O conference earlier, showing us the back panel of both Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro and thus confirming its camera visor design.

If you’re interested in some other specs of this year’s Pixel phones, then some sources report that the Pixel 7 will have a panel with 1080×2400 resolution and 90hz refresh rate, while Pixel 7 Pro will have a screen resolution of 1440×3120 resolution and a 120hz refresh rate, which is similar to last year’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

The above information comes from the Android Open Source Project, where the enterprising folks at 9to5Google found that Google created two new display drivers, one C10 and the other one P10. Google Pixel 7’s codename is Cheetah (C) and Pixel 7 Pro’s codename is Panther (P). After digging further into the codenames we found out that Google Pixel 7 Series will be using the same Samsung display panel as their predecessor Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

The Google Pixel 7 is gonna be a little bit smaller than its predecessor Pixel 6, and thus the display panel has been shrunk accordingly, it is 1mm narrower and 2mm shorter. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 Pro’s size is pretty much identical to the Pixel 6 Pro’s, and the same goes for its screen.

Another interesting leak is that the Pixel 7 Pro’s display will have a native 1080p model, which should improve battery life in Low Power Mode. First, the similar design, and now, the similar display specification. It seems like the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro might just be dull upgrades compared to their predecessors, and not much more. But still, these are just leaks and we’re also many months away from their launch, so things could change of course.

There are also some leaks about the second generation of the Google Tensor Chip, which according to leaks promises better performance, battery backup, consistency, and better camera optimization than last year’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
