On Wednesday, Apple unveiled its plans to strengthen its position in India by inaugurating a new office in the vibrant city of Bengaluru. Situated at Minsk Square, a pivotal location in the city, the expansive office space spans 15 floors and is designed to accommodate up to 1,200 employees.

Aiming to foster innovation and collaboration, the new office is already home to various Apple teams, including software engineering, hardware technologies, operations, and customer support. A company spokesperson emphasized that the workspace is meticulously crafted to encourage creativity and connection among the teams.

The interior design incorporates locally-sourced materials such as stone, wood, and fabric for walls and flooring, creating a blend of aesthetics and sustainability. Additionally, the office boasts greenery with native plants, contributing to a healthy and environmentally conscious workspace.

Apple’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in the new office’s practices. The facility is designed to run entirely on renewable energy, following Apple’s track record of carbon neutrality in corporate operations since 2020. The company aims to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum rating, signifying the highest level of LEED certification.

This Bengaluru office joins Apple’s existing corporate offices in key Indian cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Gurugram. Representing a significant milestone in Apple’s more than 25-year history in India, this expansion aligns with the company’s focus on local manufacturing and its contribution to the Indian economy.

With nearly 3,000 employees in India, Apple’s collaboration with local suppliers supports hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country. The company is actively engaged with Indian partners, such as Frank Water, to address environmental challenges and promote access to education and employment.

As India intensifies its emphasis on local manufacturing, Apple’s contribution is noteworthy. Industry data indicates that in 2023, Apple assembled iPhones worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore in India. However, insiders suggest that the actual market value of these devices could be higher, depending on taxation policies in other countries.

Apple’s continued investment in India reflects its commitment to both technological innovation and sustainable business practices, solidifying its role as a key player in the country’s evolving tech landscape.
