Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed that it will shut down Apex Legends Mobile on May 1, 2023. The game was developed by Respawn Entertainment and won the Game of the Year 2022 title on Apple and Google App Stores.
However, the company cited that the content pipeline has begun to fall short of expectations for quality, quantity, and cadence. The game will no longer be available on mobile but will continue to be available on PC and Console.
EA also announced that it will stop all real money in-app purchases starting immediately, and the game will be removed from web stores.
The company will not provide refunds for real money purchases, as per the terms of the EA User Agreement. The web store will no longer be accessible, and all game content sales on third-party web stores will also no longer be available.
The company has also confirmed that it will stop working on Battlefield Mobile. The current Battlefield Mobile title has been cancelled, and the company stated that it has decided to pivot from the current direction to better meet the expectations of its players.
EA is instead focusing on evolving Battlefield 2042 and is in pre-production on its future Battlefield experiences.
