Apple, in response to a decline in Mac and iPad sales, is gearing up for a significant comeback with a range of new models and upgrades slated for an early 2024 release, according to a recent report from Bloomberg. Facing challenges from a slump in consumer tech spending, these updates are crucial to maintaining Apple’s market dominance.

These updates aim to breathe fresh life into Apple’s Mac and iPad lineup, which collectively contributes 15% to the company’s revenue but has faced challenges amidst consumer tech spending declines.

Apple iPad Revitalization

The iPad Pro models will see a notable enhancement with the integration of OLED screens and the M3 chip. This move is poised to breathe new life into the Pro series, addressing the void left by the absence of updates in the previous year. Alongside these advancements.

Apple plans to introduce a third generation of the Apple Pencil and a revamped Magic Keyboard, adding value to the overall iPad experience.

The iPad Pro models will boast OLED screens and the M3 chip, with four new models in the pipeline. Alongside these, Apple is revamping the Apple Pencil (third generation) and Magic Keyboard accessories. The new Magic Keyboard is expected to provide a more laptop-like experience, featuring a sturdier aluminum frame.

Notably, the iPad Air’s expansion into two different screen sizes (11 inches and 12.9 inches) marks a departure from its previous singular form factor. Apple aims to capture a wider audience with these variations.

Mac Revitalization

Mac sales witnessed a significant 34% drop in the last quarter, while iPad revenue decreased by 10%. To counter this trend, Apple plans to launch the new iPads alongside iPadOS 17.4 and Macs equipped with macOS 14.3.

The iPad Air is set to offer a larger 12.9-inch version, diversifying options at different price points.

The MacBook Air is also set for a refresh, featuring the M3 chip and developments alongside macOS 14.3. While the software is expected between the end of January and February, hardware shipments may commence around March.

Looking beyond the immediate horizon, Apple has ambitious plans for the Vision Pro headset in early 2024, along with updates to the Apple Watch and iPad mini, a new low-end iPad, larger upscale iPhones, and revamped AirPods.

These strategic moves showcase Apple’s commitment to innovation and adapting to evolving consumer preferences in the competitive tech market.
