Mediatek chipsets are becoming popular day by day. Most of the mid-range phones or flagship devices are supposed to use a Dimensity chip inside. The Most premium Dimensity 9000+ is still the king in Android chipsets.
Apart from that, the company has unveiled a new midrange processor Dimensity 1080 which is supposed to be an upgraded version of the Dimensity 920 chipset.

Detailed Information
Despite the significant increase in number from 920 to 1080, this SoC isn’t a radical departure from its predecessor. The CPU is in an octa-core configuration with two ARM Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.6 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz — a nearly identical setup to the Dimensity 920, with the difference of 100Mhz faster performance cores.
GPU & Storage
The GPU is also the same as Dimensity 920 chipset. It is the ARM Mali-G68 GPU with 4 cores. Further, LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage type are also supported. The RAM provides bandwidth up to 25.6GBPs and offers similar performance.
Camera & ISP
One of the highlighting features of this Mediatek Dimensity 1080 chipset is the support for a 200MP camera. It will become a trending topic in 2023. Furthermore, it can take 4K HDR videos using its proprietary Imagiq engine.
Eventually, there’s support for ZSL, 10-bit recording, MFNR and many additional features.
Display & Connectivity
With the use of Mediatek Miravision, this processor is capable to have 120Hz/144Hz 1080p display support even with proper colour gamut and HDR 10+ enhancement.
Further, there are many connectivity options including support for 5G NSA/SA, Wi-Fi 6, BT 5.2, Navic (GPS) and more. Similarly, the peak bandwidth is 2.77GBPs download speed for 5G cellular connections.
Launch Info
Mediatek announced Dimensity 1080 very recently i.e. October 2022. It could come to commercial units in November or December months. Realme 10 Series and Redmi Note 12 Series are said to grab this processor.
