Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 Series:
Qualcomm claims that these two new chipsets offer twice the performance at half the power of the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform. Smartwatches with this new chipset are expected to launch next month. Let’s take a closer look at the specifications of the W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1 SoCs below.
Specifications
Efficiency & Performance
Qualcomm introduced its latest snapdragon W5+ gen 1 and W5 gen 1 wearable platforms. consistent with Qualcomm, snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 consumes lower than 50% less power than previous generations while giving double the performance and 30% smaller features. compact.
the premise of the recently introduced snapdragon wearable platforms is additionally a hybrid architecture. An extremely integrated 22nm always-on coprocessor with a 4nm SoC formed each snapdragon wearable platform. The ultra-low power Bluetooth 5.3 is also compatible with Qualcomm’s snapdragon W5+ gen 1 and flower W5 gen 1 processors.
Cores & Features
Qualcomm claims the new chip can unlock a variety of new interactive experiences, such as B. 3D watch faces, 3D maps and navigation, real-time image recognition, intelligent two-way calling, intelligent device control and more. The company goes on to add that the chip is also capable of handling new ultra-low-power environmental experiences.
Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 packs four Arm Cortex-A53 cores paired with a Cortex-M55 core for AI/ML tasks. the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 features GPU and Adreno 702 at 1 GHz.It’s also a significant improvement over the 320MHz Adreno 504 GPU found in the Snapdragon Wear 4100+.
Qualcomm hasn’t shared any details about the regular Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip. Based on the differences between the Snapdragon Wear 4100 and Snapdragon Wear 4100+, we suspect the regular variant could be essentially the same chip without a couple of features.
First Device
As per a recent collaboration, the OPPO & Mobvoi will be the first to use this chip. Eventually, we find OPPO Watch 3 also gets some specifications changes which would use the latest snapdragon wearable chips.
