Generally, it will be the next iteration to Wifi 6/6E. According to Wifi enthusiasts, Wi-Fi 7 will provide a major improvement over the current wifi algorithm. Qualcomm has said that it will be commercially available in the year 2024. For informative videos, have a look at our YouTube.

Wi-Fi 7: IEEE standard

IEEE, which also stand for Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineer generally provides a technical name for networks like Wi-Fi has the name IEEE 802.11.

Wi-Fi 7 generally named IEEE 802.11be will be the successor of the currently used wifi algorithm IEEE802.11ax.

Wi-Fi 7: speed

Wi-Fi 7 vs Wi-Fi 6

The wifi has hugely developed during the last decade. Moreover, Wifi has a 51% share in total IP traffic used worldwide. Wifi 6/6E provide maximum linkrate of 600 to 9608Mbit/sec.

Additionally, Wifi 7 will be three times the current link rate. It will provide a massive linkrate of 30Gb/s. Sounds Great!

Wi-Fi 7: Frequency & Security

WiFi Generations

Currently, only Wi-Fi 6E offers three working frequency bands: 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz. Wi-Fi 7 will also go with the same three frequency bands. Higher frequency bands aren’t backward compatible, they will be only used on a device with Wi-Fi 6E support. As high frequency provides high speed but also reduces the network coverage area.

When talking about security, Wi-Fi 7 will use the latest WPA3 security system. Additionally, With Wi-Fi gen 3 protection, a device has to pass the SAE encryption algorithm to connect to the network.

Wi-Fi 7: Channel Bandwidth & MIMO

Wi-Fi 7

When comparing the speed, There is a 100% increased channel in total Bandwidth than Wi-Fi 6E. Although, Wi-Fi has introduced 320MHz bandwidth together with more efficient utilization of non-contiguous spectrum.

  • It will also support Multi band Carrir aggregeration.
  • There is a support of 16 spatial steams of MIMO compared with 8×8 MIMO of Wi-Fi 6E currently.
  • Also integretad with TSN for very low latency together with IEEE802.11aa.

Wi-Fi 7:QAM Modulation

Wi-Fi has introduced 4096-QAM in its upcoming generation compared to 1024-QAM as of now. With higher QAM modulation, it results in higher link capacity & data rate. On the other hand, It will reduce the network ara and will increase linearity in the transmitter.

You may consider it like Carrier aggregation we have in our smartphones. With a multi-link operation, the receiver will be able to use multiple bands at the same time to improve overall speed and reduce latency.

Launch

Wi-Fi will be the upcoming generation aims to improve performance & quality by Wi-FiIt will take almost 2 years to get available commercially. This technology is being tested currently and will be announced in 2024.
