Reliance Jio’s 5G plans in India
The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) recently announced that 5G services will be launched in the country later this year. Jio is among the first companies which will provide 5G services to its customers. These 5G services will be available in the top 1000 cities across India. The company is working on a data-driven 5G network that will be based on targeted customer consumption revenue. Reliance Jio will use heat maps, 3D maps and ray-tracing technology for precise coverage planning to target high-consumption and high-perception locations.
Reliance Jio also announced that it paid Rs 30,791 crore for comprising accrued interest to the Department of Telecom (DoT) to clear entire spectrum payments liabilities that the company acquired before March 2021 auctions.
Jio has been doing 5G trials on advanced use cases across Healthcare and Industrial automation. The company will also partner with WhatApp to make prepaid recharges easier.
5G network requires costly infrastructure compared to 4G network and 5G is obviously faster than 4G. So, Jio’s 5G plans would be definitely costlier than 4G plans. However, it is expected that Jio’s 5G plans would be affordable compared to the global prices.
