After being banned in India for over eight months, BGMI, the Indian version of PUBG Mobile, might make a comeback soon.

According to a recent report by News18, the government has agreed to lift the ban on the game for a limited period of three months, subject to certain changes made to the original version of the game by its developer, Krafton.

The report indicates that Krafton has made certain modifications to BGMI and assured the government that the game will comply with all the terms and conditions laid down by the Indian government.

Let’s start the discussion !!!

BGMI past and future :

While this is great news for Indian BGMI enthusiasts, there are still questions about why the game was allowed back, despite intel reports indicating that the game was communicating with servers in China, directly or indirectly.

As per the report, the Indian government has recommended certain changes to BGMI that Krafton needs to implement to lift the ban. Firstly, players will no longer be able to play the game 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Now Makers have decided to set a time limit regarding the screen time of BGMI. However, the report doesn’t specify how many hours players can play the game.

Secondly, the developers will have to remove blood from the game. According to the report, the color scheme of the game will be changed, and no blood will be used in the game. The Chinese version supports only green and yellow blood so that’s possible in the Indian version also.

Lastly, the government has asked the publisher to make relevant changes in the game, including the server, to combat addiction and prevent cyber threats. Some reports and shreds of evidence are there that obsession with BGMI resulted in various criminal acts by individuals.

Concerns have also been raised about user data being harvested for profiling to carry out targeted cyber-attacks on Indian users. As a result, the firm has been asked to make the requisite internal changes and server changes to address these concerns.

Conclusion :

BGMI was banned in India in July 2022, and despite multiple rumors of its reintroduction, it remains suspended, and the developer is maintaining silence about its current status. However, with the publication of this recent report, there seems to be a ray of hope for the game, and its return may be on the horizon.

The three-month trial period will allow the government to assess the game’s performance and determine whether the changes implemented by Krafton are sufficient to comply with the Indian government’s guidelines. If all goes well, BGMI fans in India might be able to enjoy their favorite game once again.
