CONNECTIVITY:

Jio Game Controller supports wireless connectivity via Bluetooth 4.1 technology. The device has a Bluetooth range of up to 10 meters. Bluetooth 4.1 is now outdated though they should have provided the latest version. The good thing is it comes with the low latency functionality which should the user with the lag-free and smooth gameplay.

Even though there is mention of Bluetooth connectivity, there seems to be no mention of a wireless dongle for USB ports, so Bluetooth tethering is the only option here.

DESIGN AND LAYOUT:

In terms of looks, the Jio Game Controller follows the footsteps of one of the established brands in the market i.e, the Xbox Game Controller. Unlike the Sony PlayStation style layout which has the analog stick on the left placed below the directional buttons, giving the controller a symmetric look, this has the left analog stick placed above the four directional buttons just like the Xbox Game Controller.

The device looks just like any other gaming controller on the market. It comes with a sleek design along with a matte finish giving the device a rugged feel. The device weighs just around 200 grams making it quite light for a controller with long-hour usage.

KEYS PLACEMENTS:

  • 491894897 i 2 Digital 96Wx96H 1
  • 491894897 i 7 Digital 96Wx96H 1
  • 491894897 i 6 Digital 300Wx300H 1
  • 491894897 i 5 Digital 96Wx96H 1

Jio Game Controller comes with a 20-button control layout consisting of action buttons, a TV key, a Jio Button, a shoulder key, directional buttons, etc just like the Xbox Controller except for the Jio Button which is the replacement of the Xbox game button. The device has two shoulder keys on the left, two on the right, and a Jio button in the middle with a select and start button on either side. There’s even a home key, a back key, and a TV key on the bottom of the controller.

Then there’s the left analog stick, right analog stick, four directional buttons on the left, and four action buttons on the right. By the way, the directional buttons below the left analog stick are 8-way directional buttons and not 4-way ones.

BATTERY AND CHARGING:

Jio Game Controller comes with an in-built battery which the company claims should give you eight hours of battery life before you have to plug in to charge it as it is a rechargeable battery.

The controller comes with a Micro-USB Port for juicing up its battery and not Type-C which should not be acceptable in 2022 as most people now have smartphones that have Type-C charging support. Also, Type-C is now the future so not giving Type-C hurts. Now you have to keep a sparing Micro-USB Cable just for this apart from the Type-C Cable your smartphone supports.

FEATURES & COMPATIBILITY:

Jio Gaming Controller has keys placement like Xbox so most people will already be familiar with the layout so it provides easy navigation all-around. There is quite a Wide Compatibility. As mentioned above it has 20 buttons and 2 Sticks. It also supports haptic control further improving the user experience.

As mentioned on the Jio website, the controller is compatible with Android smartphones, tablets, Android TV, and the Jio Set Top Box. As mentioned earlier due to the lack of a wireless dongle or USB type-C, and due to the outdated version of Bluetooth, it will not be compatible with PCs, Laptops, and consoles.
