Every year Xiaomi takes major improvements over its custom skin named MIUI. This year too, MI has unveiled MIUI 13 in the launch event of Xiaomi 12 Series(China). MIUI 13: Top Features
l A brand new Font
The company introduced a new font called Mi Sans on MIUI 13 devices. My Sans is a sans serif font with simplified letters and numbers. Xiaomi rearranged the keyword spacing to make the font more symmetrical. Yes, you can also adjust the font size and size. This feature was also available with MIUI 12.
l Introduction to 3-step verification
Since privacy is a crucial problem to many smartphone users. MIUI had already worked much in MIUI 12.5 to increase privacy. BUt with MIUI 13, Xiaomi has introduced a 3-step Verification process for its devices.
- Improved Face Recognition: When you set face-lock in MIUI 13, the device also registers the upper waist. This will not allow any similar face with different body structures to unlock the phone.
- Privacy Watermark: It will work as an anti-theft device whenever someone copies crucial documents from your phone, it will apply a watermark to it.
- Electronic Fraud Detection – This feature logs malicious websites and unwanted phone numbers. And every time you open malicious websites or a spammer calls you, you get a notification in addition.

l Improved performance with MIUI 13
The company claims that It has many performance improvements over MIUI12.5 (Enhanced). This will increase app fluidity by 15% for third-party apps and 23% for Xiaomi system apps. Xiaomi claims that MIUI 13 takes first place in the Master LU fluidity test, beating other Android skins at all costs. Moreover, you can open up to 14 system apps in the background at a time on any mi device with 6GB RAM.
l All new widget system
This version has brought tons of widgets to their devices. From step counting widgets to flight info widgets, all are there. Although, It will be exclusive for Android 12 based MIUI 13 only.
It comes with a host of new live wallpapers that showcase crystal formation. Moreover, Xiaomi says that these wallpapers were captured using a polarization microscope via 8K timelapse photography.
l Separate PAD edition for tablets
With MIUI 13 on smartphones, Xiaomi has announced a separate MIUI 13 Pad Edition for devices with a larger screen. It also includes many additional features for MI pad devices. This includes functions such as a new shortcut to quickly switch between full screen and window mode, window scaling. , a global taskbar with drag-and-drop support for multitasking and more. MIUI13 Pad also has support for a number of keyboard shortcuts to improve productivity..
l New Control Center 3.0
With MIUI 12, Xiaomi has introduced an all-new control Center inspired by Ios 14. With MIUI 12.5, MI bring many fixes to the Control Center and renamed it to Control Center 2.0. Things changed and this time Xiaomi introduced much visual enhancement to its control center 3.0. However, This feature won’t be available for 3GB or fewer RAM phones.
MIUI 13 Rollout
Since MIUI13 is launched with Xiaomi 12 series on 28th December 2021 in China. We can expect the rollout to the first batch by the end of January 2022.
For Global & India, MIUI 13 has not been announced till now. It will be announced with Xiaomi 12 series when launched globally.
Conclusion
MIUI has a great fan base all over the world. But, MI didn’t provide all the features to global users. Many things like custom font-weight, Wallpaper& themes section, app vault, all Charging animations, etc to budget phones. We hope MI does not do this thing again with this version too.
