Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

Qualcomm last year launched a bunch of new chipsets alongside its ultimate flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chip. It was a 4nm chip and used the latest Cortex X2 cores with Cortex-A710 & Cortex-A510 cores. So on, we have many sources claiming that there could be a new Snapdragon 7 Gen1 that can arrive soon in the markets may be in May or June.

So on, Mediatek also revealed its Dimensity 9000 & 8000 Series recently to outperform the Snapdragon 888 & 8 Gen1 chip out there. Now, huge leaks are coming out there that Qualcomm is working on its new chip in its 7- Series. It could be named the Snapdragon 7 Gen1 taking the direct rival to the Mediatek Dimensity 8100 chip launched recently.

Key features

While the Dimensity 8100 used the Cortex A78 Cores as their mainstream & Cortex A55 as the battery efficient cores. Qualcomm is yet to pack the latest ARM Cortex A710 cores for performance & Cortex A510 cores for efficiency. Although, you can think the present 7-Series chip is even better than Qualcomm last year’s flagship Snapdragon 888 5G chip.

Arm Cortex A710 official

Getting into deep, the latest Cortex A710 is almost 10% better in performance, 30% more energy efficient & also 100% faster in AI performance than the Cortex A78 Cores. While the Cortex A510 offers 35% more speed, and 20% more battery efficiency and is 3x times better in AI Performance than Cortex A55 Cores. Meanwhile, those cores seem to be a 10% downgrade inefficiency, which can result in high thermal efficiency. Even the upcoming Cortex X3 cores don’t seem to fix that.

In the same instance, it can use either TSMC 5nm or the Samsung 4nm core process out there. So, the upcoming Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip seems to be very better in terms of Battery &  Performance. On the other hand, the latest Cortex A710 cores from ARM are not any better than that of their older Cortex A78 Cores when talking of efficiency.

A Popular tipster Digital Chat station also says that this chip won’t be any better than SD 870 in terms of Single-core performance Due to the lower core frequency & lack of Qualcomm Super core unit. while its Antutu Score goes beyond the 750K compared to 700K scores with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G chip.

Moreover, the Snapdragon could pack the dual-core cluster in its upcoming 7 Series chip. There could be a four performing core followed by four battery efficiency cores. The use of ARM‘s latest cores seems that Qualcomm is adopting the ARM V9 Structure in its Snapdragon 7 Gen1 chip too. Meanwhile, it gets a disadvantage for the Dimensity 8100 being at ARM V8.

Although, this Qualcomm chipset is also using the Adreno 662 graphics out there. Which seems to be a direct successor to the Adreno 660 used in Snapdragon 888 chipset. Eventually, this seems that the Snapdragon is getting straight to the new generation of mobile processors. But it’s a catch that Qualcomm is planning to reduce the core frequency which can result to lower performance than Snapdragon 888 but higher than Snapdragon 870.

Launch Date

This chip can arrive first in the Honor 70 Series. While this phone won’t arrive in India due to Government Ban. You can expect any Xiaomi or Realme Phone could come very first with the chip in India. Moreover, the technical specifications of this processor are yet to reveal, we get it that the chip may arrive in Q3 of 2022, sometime earlier than of upcoming Qualcomm 8 Gen2 or with the 8 Gen1 Plus.
